An Institution established by Rev. Thomas Huges in 1802. The academy was created as a "prep" school for college. Classes included languages, philosophy, and astronomy. The stone structure was built around 1806, making it one of the oldest buildings still standing in Beaver County.

An American soldier and physician who served as a colonel and brigade commander in the Union Army during the Civil War. He attended Greersburg Academy in Darlington from 1838 to 1840. After, he spent time in medical school in Pittsburgh.

An ordinance authorizing and directing the holding of a public election in the Borough of Darlington, County of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, for the purpose of obtaining the assent of the elections, to an increase of the bonded indebtedness thereof in the sum of Six Thousand ($6000.00) Dollars, for the purpose of paying the Borough’s portion of the cost and expense incident to the paving of such additional width of Market Street and Second Street, within the limits of said Borough, as may be prescribed by the Town Council to be paved and improved, under prescribed legal proceedings, and providing for the submission of such question to a vote of the electors of said Borough at said election, and fixing the time and place of and providing for the holding of said election.  Whereas, the corporate authorities of the Borough of Darlington, in the County of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, are desirous of increasing the bonded indebtedness of said Borough in the sum of Six Thousand ($6000.00) Dollars, for the purpose hereinbefore stated, and have signified and expressed their desire to make such an increase for such purpose by Ordinance No. 106, enacted by the Town Council of said Borough on the Second day of May, A.D. 1921.

Whereas, Borough of Darlington, A Municipality of Beaver County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the County have determined that the appropriate legal mechanism for achieving the objectives of Section 102 and 303 (a) and (e) of the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling, and Waste Reduction Act, Act 101 of July 28, 1988, P.L. No. 528 (hereinafter referred to as “Act 101”), and for ensuring the delivery of Fallston generated municipal waste is the enactment of a Municipal Waste Flow Control Ordinance that provides for the disposition of municipal solid waste at sites selected by Darlington Borough or listed in the Beaver County Solid Waste Management Plan; and now therefore, it is hereby enacted and ordered by Borough of Darlington as follows:
